The best film in the Indian Century.. PART 2

I was just running through old posts and I came across this one where im talking about Manichitrathazhu and its successors....

Back when i wrote it, the Bollywood version of the film was under production.... Now that its out(it came out sometime last year...) i thot it would be only fair to have the video for comparison...

Bhool Bhulayiaa has Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan coming together...AGAIN... and thankfully Priyadarshan has stuck to remaking one story here... (he has an annoying habbit of mixing up two or three malayalam films in a single remake!!!) Akshay and Vidya have done well... but Shiney was a miscast according to me... I cant see what the fuss is all about around Shiney.... all i could think of when i see him act is that... He's LOUD! Priyan has tried to bring in the comedy track from the Mal version... however, that is the downfall of the movie...(atleast for us Malayalees who have seen Manichitrathazhu a million times!) There is no Innocent or Ganesh Kumar or Pappu.... Instead we have Paresh Rawal, Asrani and Rajpal Yadav who fail miserably in our eyes.... But ofcourse, we hear the Bollywood audience loved it!! (Imagine how much more they would have loved the comedy if they actually heard Innocent.. "Kuthum njan..kuthum"! :- i'll poke you...)

Here's a link to the PART 1 post thats related to this and has the videos of the other three version.

Fear makes you stronger...

A view of the carnage, destruction, death, desperation and pain faced by everyone involved in the mumbai attacks...

Click here to play the song...

However, unfortunate this event might be... this is a blessing in disguise... In some way, it has made us look beyond our cultural, communal and regional differences...

The world as a whole was attacked... The entire world was involved... Everyone took notice...

We have found our true nature... we have found our common ground... FEAR....

We are no longer just Indians, Americans, Europeans, Africans, Australians, Russians, Chinese or Japanese.... We are HUMANS.... We are global citizens.... and we belong to one religion.. Humanity...

We have for the first time... wanted to live in a free world... in the true sense of that phrase...

We have for the first time... truly wanted to make a change...

We are truly for the first time... aware of the strength of our enemies....

And for the first time... we will not bear with it!

The world is not just yours or mine.... it is OURS.... It belongs to our children...

This is our right to live on... to survive... to give wings to our dreams... This is the chance we have been waiting for... This is the beginning of a new era....

My Piranaal! Nov. 24th

Here in Kerala, among Hindus we have two birthdays... one is the day you were born or the date of birth.. my date of birth is on the 30th of Nov.

The other is your birthday according to the hindu zodiac star... my Hindu zodiac is called 'Chithira' .

This is the "star of opportunity". Chithira reflects the world of maaya and delusions, which they are to over come.

This is the 14th star of the Hindu zodiac, ruled by planet Mars. In ancient time the star was known as the 'Star of Prosperity'.

Chithira allows us to gain the fruit of our good karma that comes through righteousness. :D

It has a highly spiritual energy and effect.
It changes every year depending on the day the star arrives in the Hindu month i was born in... anyway... we have a small Kerala style lunch here (called 'Sadhya')... here are some pictures...
